Enjoys an excellent reputation for its food. A world-class view overlooking the Nith Estuary and Solway Firth. On a clear day the mountains of the North Lakes are clearly visible on the English side of the Firth. The view up the Nith is just as good. Carsethorn is a former fishing village that was once a major point of emigration. Not too far away is the birthplace of John Paul Jones, founder of the US Navy, as the RSPB Reserve at Mersehead.

Bus service to either Dumfries or Dalbeattie.
