Grade II-listed village pub with two rooms. To the right is the older part of the building (single-storied and believed to date back to the 15th century) with tables, chairs and a cushioned bench along one wall. On the left is another room which is part of a later two-storey house. This has the bar, an open fire and more chairs and tables. Garden with children's play area. In current CME Recommended Pub Guide.

New tenants arrived in early August 2023, and intend to restore a food service at some time in the near future, however they do have weekly food trucks.

One star - A pub interior of special national historic interest

Listed status: II

Worth a look for the basic public bar with its painted wood-panelling, traditional bench seaeting and, on the left, a low, bowed panelled ceiling. The room was clearly extended to the right at some point.

General information about historic pub interiors

Consists of a single storey building claimed to date back 400 years and a 19th century yellow brick house on the left. The basic public bar on the right has a parquet floor on the left half and carpet on the right half with a higher ceiling showing it was clearly extended to the right at one point. It has painted wood-panelling on walls, the very traditional bench seating, and on the left-hand low bowed panelled ceiling but sadly the traditional for a pub colours of brown and cream have gone to be replaced in 2014 by a pastel green colour on the dado and cream above. Also, the very traditional well worn Formica top tables and seating including two simple forms have been replaced with modern tables and chairs. The fireplace with a log fire originally stretched across where there is now a short passage to the lounge - the old brick on the left is the only original part remaining and there is a new brick interior. The small lounge has a brand new counter which replaced one from c.1960 and the bar back was replaced in the early 1980s.
