This Pub is Permanently Closed
Ideal country pub, and once a GBG regular, with lounge, bar with open fire, was in the safe hands of Paul and Emily for three years, and who followed in the footsteps of Jill and Paul Jackson, who rescued the pub from an uncertain future after it had been closed for 898 days by the last of a string of various pub management companies. However, there are now plans to convert the pub into a house, and also further plans for the pub to be bought by the villagers, which would make The Vane the first community owned pub in the area. Four quality en-suite bedrooms are available.
Active Campaign
2021-11-25 The Long Newton Community Hub Limited (a BenCom) is campaigning to buy the Vane Arms, and in particular to oppose a planning application to change the pub into a dwelling. The planning development committee of the local authority refused this planning application, but the Planning Inspectorate has overturned the decision on appeal – opening the door for the pub to be turned into a home as originally planned.
