Dating from the late 1500s, a reputedly haunted pub and once at the centre of the smuggling trade, the Ship is wonderfully positioned next to the beach.

Comprises a lounge and a bar, coal fires, original timbers, and retaining an 'olde worlde' feel to the interior.

The last of the pubs in Old Saltburn, with the Seagull, Dolphin and Nimrod all long gone.

Three beers are usually served, though there may be less available during winter months. Theakston OP normally available, with a couple of offerings from Greene King, one denoted as the 'house beer.'

Quality food is served most times.

Pleasant outside seating with clear views of the pier, opened in 1869, cliffs, rocks, beach and the sea.

Becoming popular with film companies because of its location and traditional unspoilt looks.
