Historic Interest
Delicensed on 23/12/09, it was on No Business Rates list as 29/10/09 with landlord Barry Young. In May 1981 it was the Rose Hill Hotel and was a Greenall Whitley pub selling both Mild and Bitter (E) but by April 1984 it had been put up for sale and was soon bought by Bandmatic and was selling Boddingtons Bitter (H). In February 1985 it was mentioned that it was now doing better than when it was a Greenall Whitley tied house. The Pub was refurbished in Spring 1986. The Pub had been renamed Churchills and was now selling Draught Bass, but by October 1986 this had gone. The Pub was owned by the same peoplle as Winstons (Gypsys Tent) and the landlord moved from there in August 1987, the pub now sold Draught Bass, Bass 4X Mild, and Boddingtons Bitter with Stones Bitter expected soon. By summer 1989 only Boddingtons Bitter was available, but in April 1992 it was joined by Holts Bitter. In the 1992 Great North Western Beer Festival programme it was listed as selling Boddingtons and Holt Bitters. A Branch Meeting was held here on August 12th 1993. It was listed in the Good Beer Guide for 1979 and 1980.
