Blue Boar, Bolton

Sold by Pugh's Auctions 15/07/10 £120K but continued as a pub. In May 1981 it was a Whitbread keg pub, but By November 1982 it had been refurbished (with the letterbox being on the inside of the door not the outside!) and was selling Duttons Bitter and Castle Eden Ale and sawdust was being scattered on the floor, but not for long! By October 1983 the Duttons Bitter had gone and been replaced with Cask Trophy. On 30/11/82 Castle Eden was 62p and on 19/04/84 Cask Trophy was 65p. It was visited on the St Georges Day Pub Crawl on April 23rd 1985. In August Boddingtons Bitter was on the bar and a carpet was now covering the bare floorboards. By May 1986 Cask Trophy was no longer available. The Pub was included on the town centre pub crawl in the Great North Western Beer Festival Programme, and by June 1987 Marstons Pedigree had replaced the Castle Eden Ale, so only Keg Whitbread beers were available. The Pub was listed in the 1989 Beer in Bolton Guide as selling Boddingtons Bitter and Marstons Pedigree (H). By November 1990 Marstons Pedigree had gone, leaving just Boddingtons Bitter and that was listed in the 1992 Great North Western Beer Festival Programme. By late 1993 Castle Eden Ale appeared again, but not for long as by early 1994 it had gone again. Howver by mid 1994 the pub had been designated a Cask Ale House, but the Chesters Mild and Tropy remained keg. On 30/11/82 Castle Eden Ale was 62p a pint, and on 19/04/84 Cask Trophy was 65p a pint.
