This Pub is Permanently Closed
The Red Lion is situated in Bottesford which is a large village just off the A52 near Grantham and was frequented by both locals and the many walkers who come to walk the Vale of Belvoir. A traditional, friendly village pub with an olde worldie feel and real fires. The pub reputedly dates back to the 1700's and is full of history. It was popular with locals and visitors all of whom enjoyed the traditional feel. Large car park.Fish and Chips were served Friday lunchtime. URGENT: Currently closed pending planning application for residential use. A local community group, the "Friends of the Red Lion" are seeking to save the Red Lion as a community pub. Melton Borough Council's ACV Review Panel registered the Red Lion as an Asset of Community Value on the 28th November 2017, following nominations by both the Vale of Belvoir Branch of CAMRA and the Friends of the Red Lion. This followed a number of previous nominations which had been rejected by the Council. The Red Lion is a Grade II Listed Building (No. 1075098). "Mid C18 with later extensions. Rendered and whitewashed brick. Pantile roofs. Main block to east: 2 storeys in 2 bays, central doorway blocked. Windows are 3-light casements, centre opening, under segmental heads. Gabled roof with large transverse stack in centre. To west is mid C18 2-storey house now with large hipped mid C20 porch attached to south front. One 3-light casement to each floor. Brick eaves cornice below gabled roof and internal gable-end stack to west. C19 extension abuts to west gable. Interior with C20 details."
