Sadly the venture by the new operators has not worked out for them and so, once again, the pub closed its doors in Jan 2021. One has to wonder if the problem lies with those trying to operate a pub or the person leasing the sapce?
Reopened August 2021 by two brothers (geore Elia being one) who also run a catering operation which does the food side of things. The website listed is for the hotel side and will be used until one for the new operators is live. The hotel is not operated by the people who run the pub. The rear garden is having some remedial work done to get it properly open asap.
Despite the following - it appears the work was never done - Sept 2018 - Planning app - Change of use from hotel (Class C1) to 9 x self-contained flats (1 x 3 bed, 4 x 2 bed and 4 x 1 bed) (Class C3) with retention of public house (Class A4); three storey rear extension. The Chief Planner's recommendation for this application is to Grant Consent. Application Number 17/5292. It got granted unfortunately, so no garden and no kitchen in new premises.
Another of the triumvirate of Taylor Walker pubs that once dominated Cricklewood. Owned by the same person who runs the Black Lion in Kilburn. Completely refurbished in 2008. Cask beer did not originally feature but local drinkers persuaded them to introduce one pump but this became unused. Directly opposite the Beaten Docket, it offers accommodation and has a large and pleasant garden at the back.
