Attractive and lively village hostelry. The interior features a single large L-shaped room, where the low beamed ceiling in the older part contrasts with a high ceiling, with exposed rafters, in the airy, more recently modified section.
Traditional pub food, largely home-cooked, with a visiting Balti and curries van on Saturdays (see Facebook). Breakfasts are served from 9.30am.
The Trent & Mersey Canal runs along edge of village, about 300m distant. The National Memorial Arboretum is 1.2km to the east (as crow flies; nearer 2.7km by road via A513).
Historic Interest
One report suggests that the building was originally three cottages, converted into a pub circa 1837. Confusingly, however, a King William is listed as a beer house in Alrewas in an 1834 gazetteer.
This Pub serves 1 changing beer (From Marston's list) and 2 regular beers.
