Formerly a Buffs Club, the Wild Boar was opened by Wetherspoon's in 2011. Named after the Black Sabre Boar on the crest of former rector of Houghton, Bernard Gilpin. Comprising one large single bar with 10 handpulls. They are in 2 banks of 5 and some beers are duplicated. As well as regulars Abbott, Ruddles, Doom Bar & Double Maxim, three guests are usually available at weekends. including an offering from local breweries . There is a Tuesday club offering various real ale at a special price of £1.49/pint.
