Friendly and cosy country pub with fantastic views of the River Mersey, next to the site of the ferry pier and situated in Eastham Country Park. Known as a bikers' pub, it is popular with all. The 3 changing beers are from the Marstons range. The black & white photo shows the Pier Bar in 1983.

Dating from 1745, originally called the Tap Room, then at different times Eatsham Ferry, Ferry Tap, Carlitt Ferry, Eastham Vaults, Eastham Boat House and the Pier Bar it is now known simply as the Tap, Described in 1980 as a young person pub in an interesting riverside location selling Burtonwood Bitter by handpump.
