An old English hotel dating back originally to 1782 and extra rooms added in new outbuildings more recently. There are plenty of different areas on different levels in this pub with a central bar set up to handle residents, diners and drinkers. It is located opposite the church at the higher northern side of Thaxted on Watling Street, where there used to be other pubs but none now remain. Thaxted is a gem of a town still with market days on Fridays, a windmill to visit, you can even find Gustav Holst's plaque and other interesting historical buildings ... worth a visit.
This Pub serves 1 changing beer (Greene King) and 4 regular beers.
