A modern pub on the sprawling Maidenhall estate.
Historic Interest
Opened 1950, with licence from the closing Malt House, at which time it was called "The Maidenhall Inn". By 1960, when the Elephant & Castle's licence was transferred (perhaps a full licence replacing a beerhouse one?) it had become known as "The Maidenhall". The "Smock" name seems to have appeared fairly soon after this. The original licence was only a beerhouse licence; the second licence transfer provided a full licence.
