Historic Interest
In May 1918 the club joined the federation of clubs centred in Birmingham, and later that year, after finding out the premises was going to be sold, acquired the derelict premises of Turnocks in Bees Lane, Davenports were again approached and agreed to help, the decision to purchase the site was taken on 14th February 1919, and under the guidance of Mr. W. Rogers, the architects work commenced, then finally on 16th March 1921 the Bees Lane Club was officially opened, and joined the Club and Institute Union (CIU) in the same year. The Bees Lane Club eventually closing in early 1980s.
In 1950 with growing membership, the Mansefield House site was purchased and was opened to members in November 1951.
