Castleford Aquarists meet and hold events hereThe town's WW1 war memorial plaque was originally sited on the wall of the War Memorial Hospital in Barnes Road, later Castleford Maternity Home, but when the hospital was sold as private residential accommodation there was no place for the war memorial plaque and it ended up, broken in two, in the council greenhouses at Queen's Park. After a lot of local anger and the council being unable to offer a location in the town centre it was re-sited, perhaps where it would be most appreciated,on the wall of the Legion Club behind the current Castleford War Memorial.
