This venue has been open since the 1930s, but in 2016/17 had a very substantial and high-quality makeover. Now it is a 45,000 square foot site with an ice rink (the only permanent one in central London), twelve bowling lanes, various types of amusement machines, a diner and several bars and so is (accurately) described as a playpen for Londoners young and old!
However the skating and bowling are not compulsory and you may use the bars and diner without paying an entrance charge. The main bar, fitted out with stripped floorboards, shutter plywood panelling and concealed lighting, is comfortably furnished with dining tables and upholstered chairs as well as some deep armchairs. It offers a variety of keg beers, including Goose Island IPA, as well as Guinness and a cider, alongside the cocktails, wines and spirits. The menu features burgers, dogs and ribs.
