Reopened in October 2023 following purchase by the Valiant Pub Company. Internally it is little changed other than a thorough redecoration and new furnishings so we have a single long split-level bar, with the counter dominating the top portion. The cellar bar has also been refurbished and should see more use than in recent times. Initially, the non-Acorn real ales were supplied by Carlsberg Marstons but more interesting (and local) offerings are the order of the day. Barnsley CAMRA Pub of the Year winner from 2012 to 2015 and again in 2020. Winter Pub of the Season 2017/18 plus many regional CAMRA awards. Offers up to six cask beers, including up to four changing guest cask beers.
