Built in 1813, this pub was originally the first Leamington Library before becoming the Theatre Royal. The original building is Grade II listed. It was for some years known as the Chair & Rocket and more recently, the Jug and Jester. The original pub has been expanded into the buildings on each side resulting in four distinct drinking areas on varying levels that reflect the original rooms. There are pictures depicting the heritage of the town on many of the walls. Eleven TV's are spread around the building including the walled garden at the rear. Look for the unusual collection of stoneware vats on the high shelf in the middle room. The pub is now run by the Stonegate Pub Company and has been renamed The Old Library after a refurbishment in 2017. A wide selection of ales are available at very reasonable prices along with six ciders, Convenient for a beer before and after gigs at the nearby Assembly.
This Pub serves no changing beers and 5 regular beers.
