A 1950s pub built on the site of the bombed Queens Hotel. The décor is dark wood with dark orange & red painted concrete very much from the last century but it's also somewhat reverberant. There's a fair amount of seating around chunky wooden tables and high bar tables - some of which are built around the pillars - plus plenty of floor space for 'vertical drinking' on busy nights. Outside at the front is a large hard standing area with seven pub garden style tables which is in fact the roof of the medieval Lankester Vault - you can see the entrance leading down to it. Licensed to 2am every night.
Historic Interest
The City of Southampton's Lankester's Vault (Grade II Listed) is underneath the front patio.
