Sited in two of a network of brick arches built in the 1860s to span the river and support the "New" Station, the Hop is a lively pub on two levels with plenty of exposed brick and some music inspired murals. Downstairs there is plenty of comfy seating in each arch and ample space around the bar, but it can get busy and noisy when there is a full band on, which is most Saturday evenings. More seating is upstairs but be careful what you are saying as the vaulted ceiling can lead to a "whispering gallery" effect at some tables! Usually several ciders available such as Westons Old Rosie and Lilley's fruit ciders. The food available is mainly pies and pizza.
