One of Sunderland's largest range of cask beers can be found at this busy city-centre pub. In 2018 the pub celebrated 25 years inclusion in the Good Beer Guide. There are two separate rooms, with the smaller Chart Room quieter than the main bar. The pub is an enthusiastic supporter of North-East microbreweries, with up to eight guest beers usually on offer. The Chart Room has the handpull for the house ale, Titanic Plum Porter. A changing blonde ale from Durham Brewery usually features. The number of handpulls in use changes with demand and can go up to nine on Sunderland AFC match days.
Meals are available from 1130am till 3pm
A quiz is held on Thursday and there is a live music on Tuesday and Sunday evenings. There is a range of imported bottled beers from Belgium, Germany and the United States. On top of the bar back are four small wooden barrels marked whisky, brandy, gin and rum. There is a small beer garden at the back.
4 mins walk to Park Lane Interchange
The pub is within the Bishopwearmouth Conservation Area
