A landmark Llandudno hotel close to the pier, which has former prime minister Harold Wilson and the Duke of Kent among its previous guests, was converted into a holiday destination for disabled people during 2014. The hotel had previously been owned by the Payne family since its launch within five Victorian townhouses in the 1920s by Jack Payne, the founder of J E Payne, which also operated The Winter Gardens Ballroom and Payne’s Cafe Royal in Llandudno. Under new management the bar and restaurant are now only available for residents.
