Set back from the main road, this pub's origins can be traced back 150 years to the construction of the Trent and Mersey canal. Renovation work to the pub in 2011 is complemented by a new seating area at the rear with views over the canal. Recently extended into the next door cottage to make a new dining area. The pub was a winner in the 2012 Derbyshire Food and Drink awards (Best Out of Town). Food is served daily. Note that the toilets are up two flights of stairs!
