Old dwelling tastefully updated but still including part of the original blacksmith's forge which was next door. Real ales locally and nationally sourced. The pub is accessed by turning off the A1 5 miles south of Alnwick.

The pub is quite large inside with exposed beams and stone walls but has a snug and and various other rooms that complement the comfortable seating areas. Excellent reputation for food and booking is advised for Sunday lunch

Up to two more guest beers may be available in summer.
