Hotel with public bar, though that may not be open to the public anymore.
This luxury country house hotel and spa is set in 130 acres of countryside; Walkford Brook runs through the grounds. Snacks are often available but the needs of residents take priority. The hamlet of Chewton can be traced back to the Normans, but the earliest part of the current building is probably Georgian. Captain Frederick Marryat lived here in the 1840s while he gathered material for his novel, The Children of the New Forest; many of the rooms in the hotel are named after his novels.
March 2022: There's no mention of the bar on the hotel's website so it may not be open to the public any more. Please use submit updates if you have further information on this.
