The emphasis in this welcoming and homely local is very much on the ales offered and conversation. The landlord and brewer, occasionally has his own (Borough Brewery) ales on tap, but there is always a good choice from regional breweries sold from four hand pumps (plus one real cider) on the horseshoe-shaped bar, to the delight of the locals. The single room has a traditional and comfortable “front room” style to it.
An annual beer festival is held in May, featuring live music. Winner of local CAMRA Pub of the Year three times, it is well worth the ten-minute walk from the town centre. Be advised, the pub is Cash only!
