There has been a tavern on this site since the days of Charles II. As illustrated by the pub sign, the name is thought to refer to the blue bollards that once marked the "taxi-ranks" of sedan chairs. The current incarnation, which opened in July 2015, is a spacious and airy single bar, with mixed tile, carpet and wooden flooring, some fake Victorian dark wood, a variety of seats and tables and large windows. There are London-related prints, vintage photos of the area and posters everywhere. Handy for the Ritz.
In common with many other pubs, ale availability here may depend on the day of the week you visit and footfall at the time.
