A great Victorian residential-area local pub used by customers of all ages, with an excellent range of beers from local and national brewers.
Inside there are three bar areas: a traditional bar with a real fire; a comfortable lounge with leather sofas; and a small entrance hall snug area. The pub also boasts a function room upstairs, plays host to football, golf, darts, pool and rugby clubs, and has regular quiz nights.
The beer garden outside is popular, particularly when barbecues are held during the summer months. A popular beer festival with around twenty-five beers is held in June. Watch out for pie day Fridays too!
The Beehive was awarded Branch Pub of the Year in 2015 and was runner up as Branch City Pub of the Year 2018. Pop-up Punjabi food nights have proved popular.
Built in 1896 the Beehive was refitted in the 1950s. The main entrance leads into a red quarry tiled floor small snug with a 1950s counter which looks like the former off-sales. A doorway to the left leads to the bare wood floored public bar which looks like it was two rooms prior to the 1950s. The front part has distinct half panelling with benches attached and a 1950s brick fireplace, the counter has a 1950s front with a modern tiled top and more 1950s fixed seating in the rear section. A doorway to the right leads to the lounge with what looks like another 1950s counter but less distinctive so might be modern and it also has a tiled top.
