Situated in the heart of the historic village which spawned many internationally renowned engineers and industrialists, and of course the famous Swalwell cabbage. Regular bus service from Newcastle passes the pub and only 10 minute's walk from the Metro Centre and rail station. A truly no nonsense, welcoming community pub providing good company for locals and strangers alike. The pub has been in existence for more than 100 years. Sword dancers,darts, domino handicaps, monthly pie competition and buskers' nights on Saturdays. The enthusiastic licensees have increased the handpulls from one to four and also have real cider on draught. Bar food and snacks are available and free on Sundays.
