Historic Interest
Opened 8th April 1971 as a Greene King pub to serve the adjacent industrial estate and nearby residents, who previously had to travel more than half a mile to their nearest pub. During construction some adjacent land had to be purchased to provide sufficient parking, and the owner asked if the pub could be named the Earl of Warwick after the one in Stratford where he was born. This was too similar to the Warwick Arms, so he asked if it could be named the Black Bull after the Stratford one his dad had managed previously. History based on article in East Essex Gazette from the opening day as posted to the Clacton & District Local History Society's Facebook page in February 2020.
