Originally a Boddingtons pub, it has been extensively "modernised" in the mid-‘90s. Luckily, the facade of the original attractive exterior is largely maintained. Always popular for food, sport (usually football), and always serving cask ale, despite the structural alterations which destroyed forever the internal history, individuality and local character, removing the separate rooms and giving an open-plan feel, mostly tilled, wooden floors with carpeted areas around table. In 2015 there was a successful campaign by local residents to prevent the pub being turned into an American diner. Tues; Pub Quiz. Nearest public transport (130 bus) just over half a mile away.
