A wet-led pub converted from a former shop premises by JD Wetherspoon that was bought by Amber Taverns in mid 2016. It has undergone another stylish refurbishment prior to reopening on 22 September 2016. Local scenes are depicted on the walls illustrating the rich industrial and sporting heritage of the area. The interior is spacious with various sections offering a variety of seating from comfy sofas to traditional dining tables and chairs. A two-tiered balcony at the rear caters for smokers and outdoor drinking. There are a number of TV screens bringing the day's sport and a music channel. There is an extensive drinks menu of gins, gin cocktails and wines etc but sadly it no longer sells real ale. The pub was opened by the "Duke" himself, Bobby Windsor, a member of the legendary Pontypool / "Pooler" front row, a painting of which is displayed near the bar and in a corner of the room dedicated to Pontypool RFC. This is a handy pre or post match venue for rugby fans given its proximity to Pontypool Park, home of Pontypool RFC.
