This Pub is Closed Long Term
An imposing ex-Truman's street corner pub that has retained much of the external signage from that era. It re-opened in 2014 after a period of closure when its future seemed in grave doubt. Then closed again in January 2018 with another bout of fears for its future, particularly as a popular live music venue and a petition ensued. Re-opened in April 2018 by Chapman & Winney, quite transformed into an airy, albeit low-lit in the evening, pub. All the street windows have been uncovered and on the left hand side is a raised area with normal height tables and chairs and a table football table - all with views on to Queens Road. On the right is an area of comfortable armchairs, low tables, an imposing Sago tree, dartboard, bar billiards table and impressive overhead fans. The electronic games and other table games are gratis. The food offer is primarily pizza based but there are one or two extras too. There are 2 handpumps currently selling nationally available real ales. Live music may be introduced as might a more adventurous real ale policy.
This Pub serves no changing beers and 2 regular beers.
