Three storey stock brick 1877 pub. Ground floor has central entrance beneath triangular pediment, within an escutcheon. Large windows on either side of entrance separated by pilasters with composite capitals. Frieze above with engaged brackets. First floor, double-glazed windows with rounded stone tops and prominent keystones. String course between and above first floor windows. Top floor small rectangular windows with cills. Central stone carving of a ship. Spaced corbels below entrance. Narrow entrance in Mare Street through a classical arch and down a poorly lit corridor. Refurbished in 1997 with a contemporary interior.
