Traditional style village inn resurrected by a community purchase after a period in the doldrums, having been closed for a period and then an Indian restaurant. There are small, cosy drinking areas within the original half-timbered building, together with dining accommodation in several sections. The outside drinking area at the rear is a real suntrap even in the winter. Quiz night on Sundays evenings at 8.30.
Historic Interest
Built as a cottage in about 1675 and at some stage it became a beerhouse. 1n 1954 the area for the public occupied the space from the wooden partition in front of the bar to the far wall. There was a pine table down the centre of the room with a wooden bench on either side. A large fireplace had a wooden settle on each side and there were a couple of small tables. There was no bar and beer was jugged up fron the cellar. The small snug is still in use. The rest of the building was private domestic accommodation except for the restaurant which has subsequently been built on part of the garden.
