A proper pub in the town centre, with food till tea-time. Well-behaved children are welcome until the early evening, when it can be busy with the night time circuit. Real ale has only been on for a few months but is popular and will stay on. A lengthy but level trek from the railway station but there are six real ale pubs in that area, some with restricted opening hours, so check.
