Although in a largely industrial area of town, this stone building still has a farmhouse feel, with stone floors on different levels - disabled access resolved through new extension. The Red Lion is alleged to be haunted by the ghost of a highwayman or traveller who hanged himself in one of the bedrooms. In 1877, the inn whch included a butcher's shop was sold for £1,000! The pub is cosy with plenty of nooks in which to settle. The Lonely Pub Company (now Inns2bInn or Pubs2BInn) allows its tenants scope to to make their pubs prosper.
