The second Wetherspoon outlet to set up in the Potteries, originally built in 1831 as the town's meat market; it closed on 14th November 1987 and is now Grade II listed. In the early 1990's it was refurbished as the 'Tontine Shopping Centre' and then opened as a pub in December 2000. Split onto two levels, food is served all day in accordance with the usual JDW policy and there are around four guest beers on offer. Note that there is a lift between the two levels.
