This is a club, which means that the bar may be only open to members.
Although the club (situated just off Plodder Lane) is not much to look at from the outside, the internal decor is modern and comfortable. There is a well kept floodlit crown bowling green at the rear with outdoor seating. Two smoking shelters and a car park alongside the green. The bar supports four handpumps, with three is continuous use the other is for use when a new beer needs to put on. Of the two guest beers, one is from a National brewer with the other from a local brewery.
The Club has two foundation stones laid in 1897 by Thomas Stanley and James Greenhalgh inside the snooker room which has two tables. Pub quizes are on Wednesdays and live music on Saturdays.
The club runs Crown Green Bowling Picnics for parties, which include full English Breakfast and a three course evening meal-two weeks notice needs to be given.
Conservative Club with £2 joining fee and annual fees of £10/year and £5 for OAPs (Jan-Dec).
Non-members can ask to be signed in at the bar for free.
There is a discount of 25p/pint for members
