Originally the site of a small inn on the estate of the Clifton family, the present building dates from 1839 and was a coaching inn until the railway connection to Blackpool in 1863. It is now a smart 48-bedroomed, 4-star hotel with a public bar. Food is served 12 - 2.30 (lunch), 3.30 - 5.30 (afternoon tea) and 6.30 - 9.30 (dinner). Current cask ales being served are Wainwright Gold, along with occasional second ale offered to cope with the increase in demand for large functions.
