A large roadside building dating back to the 17th century and formerly owned by Courage Breweries it became a free house in 1976 and was run by the same family for well over 26 years. In Aug 2022 the pub was purchased by the British Canadian Bauly Family who at the time also operated the Wheelwrights in Monkton Combe.
