Friendly, well-kept locals pub. The large public bar has a chequerboard tiled floor, leatherette bench seating all round and a pool table in the middle. The well-appointed lounge also has bench seating but fabric-covered. Framed photos of Barnsley and district in Victorian times adorn the walls. Usual Sam Smiths rules apply - no TV, no music, no use of phones or laptops, no contactless payment, certainly no swearing. The pub appeared as the Collier's Arms in the 1996 film Brassed Off, largely shot in the village.
