The Ship is the oldest pub in Irvine, dating back to 1595 and licensed since 1754. Located at Irvine harbour, it is close to the Harbour Arts Centre and Scottish Maritime Museum. There are several eating and drinking areas all adorned with maritime murals and bric-a-brac. A mast forms part of the main bar structure. It has an excellent reputation for food. Stopped selling real ale at the beginning of 2019, but has started selling it again for the summer. Has two handpumps but mostly just one used when real ale is available. Re-opened after a long closure, it is not yet known whether cask ale is available.
