The Champion Beer of Scotland recognises the best beer that can be found specifically in Scotland.
This year’s Champion Beer of Scotland went once again to Cairngorm Brewery’s Black Gold (4.4% ABV), who has now won the award four times.
A superb session stout, the beer was described by judges as having a roasted malt flavour which dominates throughout, slight smokiness in aroma leading to a liquorice and blackcurrant background taste, giving it a background sweetness with a long, dry, bitter finish.
