This Pub is Permanently Closed

This spacious Wetherspoon pub closed on 9 June 2013 - with a party. The lease had been acquired in November 2012 by Sainsbury's, with the intention of returning the premises to a supermarket, which it used to be. Ironically, the Ship of Fools was winner of 'Best pub' in the Croydon Best Bar None Awards 2012. Planning application 15/04761/P allowing the pub's conversion back to retail use was approved on 15 February 2016.
