Reopened in 2015 after significant renovation, with a modern interior feel,plus a large garden.Ever changing range of cask beers.Discount is available for CAMRA membes.Two real ciders are available.Menu of British classic dishes and Sunday roasts.A bi-monthly brewery tap take overs. A quiz is held every Tuesday.Film specific quiz on the last Wednesday of each month.10% off cask ales and real ciders on Thursday.Summer Beer Festival held on the first weekend of July. Stout and Porter Festival every January.

Historic Interest

Originally the Alma, the pub changed its name due to the nearby (now closed but preserved) railway station on the old St Albans to Hatfield line. The pub underwent a major renovation in 2014/15 which included the removal of its old central semi-circular bar and installation of a relocated replacement at one end of the building.

The Charter Market Quarter has many historical links. One of the only free-standing medieval civic clock towers, the site of the First Battle of St. Albans in 1455, during the Wars of the Roses. Allegedly the Boot Inn played host to soldiers fighting in the battle. There used to be 23 pubs around the Market area!
