Friendly traditional-style town pub with a centrally-located island bar and two separate drinking areas.Attractions like DJ sets, music bingo, and TV sports. The pub offers a Japanese food menu excellently prepared by

Ramen Electra Noodles. Three rotating cask ales are available,with a mix of unusual and more mainstream choices, and there is 25% off a pint on Mondays. A large pleasant garden,where children are permitted up until 9pm. Awarded South Herts CAMRA's "highly improved pub" award in 2024.

The Charter Market Quarter has many historical links. One of the only free-standing medieval civic clock towers, the site of the First Battle of St. Albans in 1455, during the Wars of the Roses. Allegedly the Boot Inn played host to soldiers fighting in the battle. There used to be 23 pubs around the Market area!
