Newly refurbished, relaxed bar and restaurant joined with the Comet Hotel. Situated in a 1930's art deco style building. The interior is modern, clean and minimalist. Separate bar/lounge and dining areas and food is served in both. Two private rooms available to book either for large dining groups or other types of event. No cask ale served, but 3 Brewers Blonde on keg was available when the bar was visited.

The Charter Market Quarter has many historical links. One of the only free-standing medieval civic clock towers, the site of the First Battle of St. Albans in 1455, during the Wars of the Roses. Allegedly the Boot Inn played host to soldiers fighting in the battle. There used to be 23 pubs around the Market area!
