Cosy, traditional two-bar pub in the city centre close to Parker's Piece. The right hand room has a bare boarded floor and half timbered walls. It is mainly used for dining. The main bar is on two levels, the upper one having a stone flagged floor. Out the back is a small sun-trap courtyard. Greene King IPA is its regular beer. The changing beer also comes from the Greene King family. Its home cooked food ranges from pub classics to Italian and other Mediterranean dishes.

New licensees took on the Clarendon Arms in May 2024. An early 2026 refurbishment modernised the look with wooden slats on the walls. Cask ales not always available.
