This is a club, which means that the bar may be only open to members.

A warm and friendly, village social club. It's members only, but card-carrying CAMRA members are welcome on signing in. Knock on the door and wait for admittance. Two cask beers are usually available from a rotating list of twelve. There are two full size snooker tables upstairs, and pool and darts are popular in the main bar area with teams competing in local leagues. The club hosts a monthly Sat night quiz, occasional live music on a Sat eve.

The Charter Market Quarter has many historical links. One of the only free-standing medieval civic clock towers, the site of the First Battle of St. Albans in 1455, during the Wars of the Roses. Allegedly the Boot Inn played host to soldiers fighting in the battle. There used to be 23 pubs around the Market area!
